When you carry an open, whole heart amid your days,

You are more likely to get it marred.

After each new splinter,

It will appear less fraught and less whole.

But such looks are the work of a charlatan.

And such setbacks prove short-lived.

Alas, beyond each disruption, anew's a talent for repair.

Not solely for its restoration, but rather,

For it's amelioration!

So long as you have the courage to keep it ajar and zeal toward that which makes it vital.
